IPB Conference “Disarm! For a Climate of Peace” and Youth Gathering
Dear friends!
The International Peace Bureau is announcing a call for participants for an international youth gathering around the conference “Disarm! For a Climate of Peace”, which will take place in Berlin from 29th of September to 2nd October 2016. We will bring the issue of militarization and military spending into broad public debate and work to strengthen the global community activism.
We want to gather young people and activists working with the youth from around the world to build altogether an action agenda in Berlin to roll back militarism, in favour of a real transformation, to create a climate of peace.
Organisations and individuals working with young people are more than welcome to become partners and help in setting up the Congress, taking part in the organisation, proposing workshops and side-events, bringing in speakers, and working together on the outcomes and follow-up. This is another step in building up ways and means to bring people from all over the world, creating a space to connect and share knowledge, experience and visions.
We want the peace building process to be inclusive, we want to help creating a platform of communication among the youth activists, to foster exchange and participation. Youth gatherings preceding and following the Congress will pave the way and help in building next steps. Please find the initial program here (https://www.ipb2016.berlin/youth/first-program/). One of the objectives is to build a conversation process, also focusing on the long term, and to build a climate of peace. One of the means would be to issue a declaration. Peace building and demilitarization are issues that cannot be tackled without youth perspective and youth participation; we need you!
