As the 2nd IPB World Peace Congress in Barcelona draws closer and closer, the pressure rising even as our excitement knows no limits, let’s take a moment to revisit some of the intriguing Youth organizations joining us at the Congress.
There is UNOY Peacebuilders, a vast global network of more than 120 youth-led organisations from 65 countries which has been working on peacebuilding and sustainable peace for more than 30 years.
There is 4KidsInternational from Liberia, whose mission it is to bring hope and necessary care to those kids living in extreme poverty through peacebuilding, healthcare, safe drinking water, shelter, and education.
The World Youth Peace Organization works on capacity building, advocates for a peaceful world by campaigning for reduced military spending, and uses the money for healthcare for the global masses. Their young members in Nigeria will provide peace songs to be videoed, recorded, and televised worldwide during the Congress.
Demilitarise Education Ltd. – DED_ucation – is a community and guide for modern-day peacemakers, working to see universities break from the global arms trade and commit to world peace.
The Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University is a worldwide spiritual movement that explores human-centered development by offering spiritual perspectives on global issues and facilitating a greater recognition of rights and responsibilities.
Youth and Student CND, the youth branch of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, believes that nuclear weapons pose an existential threat to ourselves and future generations, through worsening climate change and increasing global instabilities.
Youth Fusion is a world-wide networking platform for young people and organizations striving for nuclear disarmament, risk-reduction and non-proliferation. They believe in the need for intergenerational dialogue connecting disarmament and peace, climate action and sustainable development to build back better from the pandemic.
Talking about arms: The Corruption Tracker Project creates an up-to-date online tracker of all cases and robust allegations of corruption in the global arms trade. It seeks to both expose and oppose the systemic ways in which the global arms business poisons the well of politics worldwide.
Hooping across the Atlantic to the Marshallese Education Initiative Arkansas seeks to raise awareness of Marshallese culture and facilitate intercultural dialogue to foster positive social change. They recall nuclear legacy and its ongoing biological, ecological, and cultural consequences in conjunction with the threat climate change poses to lands, cultures, and peoples.
Sahara Dempeus is a youth and activist organization that works for the self-determination of the Saharawi people and peace in the Western Sahara region. They also work through political impact and awareness in the territory of Catalonia, the mother region of BCN.
Together, they provide us with a colourful, particular, global and in any case sure extremely passionate portfolio of Youth Initiatives from hands-on workshops to mind-working arts and heart-filling music installations.
